(((Sorry, I REALLY want to do this. Jessy's real dad was never abusive. This is their visit to LA)))
I walked along the sidewalk, my hand enveloped by my dad's larger one. He'd just got a promotion so we might be moving here, to LA! I knew I was sixteen, but when I was with my dad I acted about ten. I wouldn't like to leave Rory, my best friend, behind of course, but recently things had been getting a little akward. He'd been flirting, unintentionally of course, but it had been embarassing. Dad had offered to kick his ass but I'd just laughed. As if Dad could hurt anything. Though he had been a bit weird just after Mum left. pregnant dog. Mark dumped her after two months, serve her right. I couldn't believe we were going to move here. I could go clubbing, meet guys... and hang out with my dad.

"So, Dad, what should we do first?" I asked, excited. There was a guy across the road. Pretty cute, but looked at least five years older. Damn.

When I saw the happy parent and his happy child, I instantly quickened my pace and shoved my hands in my pockets. She looked young so I tried to console my bitterness by thinking that they would probably have many arguments in the years to come... But they looked so nice that I instantly felt guilty as I nearly collided with them.
"Sorry." I mumbled, and continued on my way.
((Ah, the age old bumping into each other trick.))

I stumbled slightlly, but righted myself. My leg was bleeding. What had that girl jabbed me with? What kind of person carries pointy things?
