"It would probally be better for her than this hell hole..." Brandon looked at Tyler, wondering what he was thinking.
"I hate to admit it, but you do have a point..." He ran his hand through his orange colored hair. "She needs to grow up with someone who understands what her body is doing to her. We can't give that to her." He faced Katelyn, and looked into her eyes. "It's up to you. She's a good kid, and a fast runner."

Katelyn smiled at him. "I'll make sure no harm comes to her, and I'll bring her back safe and sound. You have my word."

"YAY!" Tony rolled his eyes.
"Ash? Are you easedroping?"
"No!" A small giggle came from the other side of the wall.
"I want her back. Bring her back in one piece."

"We will," I said reassuringly. "The eavesdropper will be fine and dandy when she comes home."

"Spend the night. It's the least we can do for you helping Brandon."

"Thank you." Smiling, I nudged Katelyn. "See? We always charm them in the end."
She rolled her eyes. "Excuse her, she's a little weird."

"It's ok." Tyler smiled at Katelyn. "I live with weird every day."

"Well, the world is a pretty crazy and weird place," Katelyn said, agreeing. "Plus you've got Ashley who seems like a ball of energy."

Tyler gave a sad nod. "She knows how to find the silver lining. She was too young to remember what it was like before, so she doesn't know how good it was." He paused, hearing Ashley talk excitedly to her teddy bear. "I hope you find the person who's trying to recreate that virus, I don't want her going through what we did."

"We have a few suspects it's narrowed down to. Maybe we'll get lucky and find someone who knows exactly who it is." I rubbed the back of my neck. "This world isn't capable of going through another virus attack. I can't even imagine what it'd be like."

"Well than you're going to have to stop, and while I try not to hurt humans I might make an exception for you if you don't knock it off, right now it's death or at least pretend to have some dignity and shut up," I snapped.

"Dignity, right," I snorted. "Ya know, death might actually be a relief," i looked up at her. "I'm already dead inside."

"I'd think twice about that if I were you," I hissed quietly, my crude wooden spear fashioned out of a broom handle pressing against the vampire's spine, just behind her heart. "Let the human go, now." For the first time, my eyes flicked twoards the captive. I'd known he was human by instinct, but now I could see who he was. "Merde," I breathed silently.
Him. After God only knew how many years, there he was. Right in front of me. For a moment, I almost dropped the spear, but animal insticts reminded me to hold my only weapon close, and seconds later it was back in its position against the vampire's back.
My little brother. The one I thought was dead. The one I had, in a moment of foolishness, abandoned. That had been when I was nine and he was six, eons ago. Now I was nineteen, at least, I hoped I was. I may have counted wrong, when one can barely tell the difference between day and night. I was still human, or as human as one can be when one behaves entirely on instinct. Animal, more like. But still, his face... It made me hurt, inside.
"Let. Him. Go."

I looked up at the strangers face she seemed... Familiar. An itch i couldn't scratch. I knew her.
But how?

I dug the spear in harder. "Let. Him. Go. Bitch." Then, softer, "JJ?"
