Sunnydale Library “Hello?” ‘Ever get the feeling the entire universe is against you?’ Rupert Giles, high school Librarian and Watcher nearly dropped the phone. He closed the door to his office. “Buffy?” He whispered quietly. ‘Hey, Giles. How’s the new girl?’ “How did you…?” Giles began. ‘I have my ways. Listen, this isn’t a social call. Have ever found any proof of a powerful artefact of good energy hidden in Sunnydale?’ “Rumours only,” Giles said. “May I ask why?” ‘Would you believe and inter planetary conqueror wanting to control it and its Dark counterpart, which she already has by the way, and the two Chosen to wield them?’ “How did you find out about this?” Giles asked. ‘I’ll explain when I get there. And I’ll be bringing some friends. Lots of friends, with a little bit of experience with this particular brand of evil. And my boyfriend. And no, it’s not Angel. He’s gone for good,’ Giles took a note of the pain in her voice, and how it wasn’t as great as he would expect. “It will be good to see you again,” he said. ‘Try and keep it down. The Councils hunting me, and my friends won’t take to kindly with them trying to bring me in by force.’ “Exactly who are your…friends?” ‘Former Power Rangers. See you soon,’ she hung up before Giles could ask another word. Former Power Rangers? “Ye Gods,” he whispered, reaching for his drawer, and the bottle of whiskey within. “What have you gotten yourself into this time, my girl?”
One week later Sunnydale High School “So this is where the Hellmouth is?” Kat asked. After a few patrols on the way to Sunnydale, the former Rangers believed Buffy’s story, and had a respect for her skills, and the fact she’d survived this long. “Under the high school Library,” Buffy told them, clinging to Tommy’s hand. “I always knew school was evil,” Zack quipped. “In this case, oh yeah,” Buffy said. “Come on. I want to get this over with.” “You okay?” Tommy said as they moved into the school. “No,” Buffy admitted. “I know what’s coming. I don’t like it, but…we have to, don’t we?” “You could stay out here,” Jason suggested. Buffy shook her head. “You wouldn’t get anything out of them. They’re not trusting of strangers,” she chuckled. “Hey, Zack. I bet you fifty they think you guys have a spell over me or something.” “You’re on,” Zack answered. “Can’t be that bad,” Rocky said as they neared the Library. “Can it?” “Watch,” Buffy said as they entered the Library. All movement within ceased. “Buffy?” Willow whispered. Buffy gave a weak smile. “Hey, Wills.” “Well, look who finally decided to come back,” Xander sneered. “Where’s Angel? Too busy doing his wounded soul routine?” “I wouldn’t know,” Buffy said coldly. She always knew he’d lied to her. Hearing the implication out of his own mouth only made it official to her. “The last time I saw him, he was tumbling through the Acathla portal into hell. I’m sure that makes you happy, though. The spell worked, by the way. Thanks for the warning,” her words were dripping with sarcasm. Xander physically flinched back. “You didn’t tell her?” Willow demanded. “Oh, he told me,” Buffy said. “’Willow said to kick his ass’, right?” For his credit, Xander looked ashamed. “I appreciate the fact you didn’t believe I could do it. Thanks for the vote of confidence.” “Hey, you couldn’t do the job til then, why should the end of the world change anything?” Buffy looked at the new face. “You must be the new Slayer. How’s Kakistos?” The girl stiffened. “Drop the ‘Big Bitch’ act, rookie. I’ve been doing it since before you picked up a stake. It doesn’t impress me.” “Yowch,” Zack whispered. “Score one for the Buffster.” “Zinged,” Rocky agreed. Buffy grinned. Scoobies v. Power Rangers. Round 1. “Who are they?” Xander asked. “The newest vamps in your love nest?” “Excuse me?” Kim snapped, stepping forward. Kat was right behind her. Rocky hid behind Zack. “Beware the Power of Pink,” he whispered. Zack nodded as the girls got close. Real close. So close the Kim and Kat both had a hand on his chest.

“Do we feel like vampires to you, stud?” Kim whispered into his ear. Oz, Giles and then new tweed wearer (Buffy guessed he was the new girls Watcher), all looked away embarrassed. The male Rangers just looked at the teen sympathetically. There was a reason they never messes with the Pink Rangers. “I think he needs to be convinced, Kim,” Kat said. “I think you might be right, Katherine,” Kim said, rubbing up against the teen. “How about now?” “That’s an interesting shade of red,” Tanya said. “N-no,” Xander stuttered. “Y-you aren’t vampires. I apologise profusely.” “Such a nice boy,” Kat said. Before the two former Rangers buried their knees in his groin. The males all winced in sympathy. “Don’t mess with Pink,” Kim said as she and Kat slapped high fives. “Ow,” Buffy said. “That had ta hurt.” “And you enjoyed every minute of it, didn’t you?” Cordelia accused. Buffy turned to face her. “And you didn’t, Queen C?” The Slayer asked. “Well, if you’d arrived last week, I’d have said no,” Cordelia said. “But after I caught him sleeping around with skanky ho over there? I have one question. Can they do it again?” “I dunno,” Kat said. “Do we do requests, Kim?” “It depends on how fast he gets up,” her predecessor said. “Stay down,” Adam advised. “How are you Oz?” Buffy asked the werewolf. “Good,” he said. “Looking after Willow?” “’Course.” “Good to hear. I wouldn’t want to hurt you.” “Just don’t sic your friends on me.” “Hey, Adam,” Rocky said. “He says less than you.” “Don’t make me hurt you, Rocko,” Buffy grinned as she moved to the still shocked Willow. “You okay, Wills?” Willow attached herself to Buffy. “I’msorryI’msorryI’mSOsorryIdidn’temanforittohappencanyoueverforgivemeI’mso…” “Will’s, chill,” Buffy said with a laugh. “It’s alright. It’s not your fault. Besides, I’m over it,” Willow looked into Buffy’s eyes. “Really?” “Yeah, I…had some help. I want you to meet someone,” she unhooked Willow’s hands from around her waist and dragged her to her entourage. “This is Tommy, my boyfriend. Tommy, my best bud, Willow.” “Nice to meet you,” Tommy said, holding his hand out. “Buffy’s told me a lot about you.” “Nice to meet you too,” Willow said. She leaned over to Buffy’s ear. “He’s a hunk.” “Uh huh,” Buffy said with a grin, looking over at Giles. Her Watcher was giving Tommy the ‘father figure’ eye. A gesture not unnoticed by Jason. “Duck and cover, bro,” he warned as Giles approached him. “Giles, threaten him later,” Buffy said with a grin. She looked at the two unfamiliar faces. “So, you got a name, or do I just call you ‘Li’l Diva’?” “Faith,” the Slayer said. “How’d you know…?” “Everyone in the Underground knows that Kahki-Nose is after you,” Buffy said. “Of course, with any luck, he’ll back off now.” “Why?” Giles asked. Buffy grinned, looking back at her friends. Tommy stepped forward. He was going to thoroughly enjoy this, and he had a feeling, from Mr. Giles’s face, so was he. “Everyone who just walked in with Buffy, save Buffy herself, are former Power Rangers,” Tommy said. “We just dropped the ‘former’.” “Dear Lord.” “What the fuck?” “Cool.” “All of you?” “That is so cool!” “That…explains a lot.” “Did you know about this, Mr. Giles?” The last unknown asked. Buffy groaned at his English accent. Watcher. Hell. “Buffy might have mentioned something along those lines when she called,” Giles said smugly. Little pillock. “I may have found the crystal you’re looking for, Buffy.” “Way to go, Giles,” Buffy cheered. “Where is it?” “Five feet below us,” Buffy groaned. “I told you,” she said. “What better place to hide a weapon of pure good than in the pit of evil?” “Would someone please explain what’s going on here?” The new guy said. “Fate of the universe,” the Rangers all said together. The Watcher paled. “Dear Lord,” he muttered. “The Council must be informed of this. And, Ms. Summers involvement, of course.” “No on both counts, pal,” Zack snapped. “Just leave it to us,” Trini requested. “Oh yes, a group of powerless young men and women,” the Watcher drolled. “Such an army of good we have.” “Oh shut up, Wesley, you little pillock,” Giles snapped. “If they get the Crystal, they won’t be powerless for long.” “Well, Tommy or Buffy won’t be,” Rocky said. “Or any of you,” Giles said. “My research has led me to believe that the Crystal may be able to restore whatever it was that made you Power Rangers.” “Oh my God,” Kim gasped. “Are you sure?” Trini asked. Giles nodded. “If Giles said it’s possible, it’s possible,” Buffy said with a nod. “Let’s go get us a Crystal.” “I really must object,” the Watcher said. “Object all you want,” Jason said. “But not one of us is listening. Mr Giles, any way of getting down there?” “Through the Masters Cave,” Giles said, looking at Buffy. “The pool of water,” she breathed. “It’s a spring, isn’t it?” “Indeed,” Giles said with a nod. “It will lead you all straight to the Crystal of Light.” “Let’s do it, guys,” Tommy said. The Rangers nodded and filed out. “Should we…ungh…be letting them go after this thing?” Xander asked, crawling to his feet. “I mean…all we have…is their word…” “Can I call Kat and Kim in? Please?” Cordelia asked. “Objection…withdrawn,” Xander grunted weakly. “Good move,” Oz said.

Half an hour later The Master’s Cave “You okay, princess?” “I’m okay,” Buffy said. “Aside from the fact that last time I was here I nearly died, I’m good.” “Let’s move it,” Jason said. “Who’s first?” “I’ll go,” Tommy said, stepping forward. As he got closer to the spring, the water gave off a soft white light. “Is that supposed to happen?” “Tommy, be careful,” Kim said. “It’s…” Tommy began. The light suddenly detached itself from the water, taking the form of a falcon. “Guess we know whose this one is,” Rocky whispered. “Hey there, old friend,” Tommy whispered with a smile. The falcon screeched, then flew towards Tommy. He instinctively stretched out his wrist, allowing the Falcon to land on it. As is landed, it crystallized. The light expanded around Tommy’s wrist, leaving a strange, white device when it subsided. On its face was a white crystal, shaped like a five pointed star. In its centre was a falcon in flight. “The Crystal of Light,” Buffy said. “But…what’s it set into?” “A Morpher,” Jason whispered. “Looks like it’s connected to the Ninja and Zeo Powers,” Billy theorised. “Good call,” Tommy said. The crystal lit up again, this time releasing a rainbow of colours. Red, blue, black, green, yellow and pink. Rocky and the other Zeo Rangers were wrapped in light. When it died out, all of them, Tommy included, were in their Zeo uniforms. “Wow,” Buffy said. “Tommy, you in spandex? Totally hot.” “No comment,” Kim said. A spare pink, blue and yellow light circled a moment before resting on Kim, Billy and Aisha, fading to leave their Ninja uniforms. “Oh yeah,” Aisha said. “Prodigious.” “Go on, Kim,” Jason teased. “You know you want to.” “Morphinominal,” Kim whispered, touching her hand to the symbol of the Crane on her chest. “Does this mean we have access to our Ninja…” Rocky began. A flash of light and he was back in his old, red Ninja uniform. “…Powers…too?” “Guess so,” Tommy chuckled. “Falcon!” A flash and Tommy was in his old white uniform. “Definitely looks better in white,” Buffy said. “Come on. Let’s go rub Wesley’s nose in this.” “But what about us?” Zack asked. “You guys must be connected to the Crystal of Darkness,” Adam suggested. “Which means I have to pay a visit to our ‘friend’ Astronema,” Buffy said. “Oh goody.” “Come on,” Tommy said. “Let’s head back.”
The Library “I can’t believe you let him do that, Xander!” “Maybe it’s the right idea. It’s obvious she’s under some kind of spell…” “You owe me fifty, Zack-man,” Buffy said as they walked in. “Ah, nuts,” Zack muttered. “What’s going on?” Tommy asked. “Wesley called the Council, with help from Dork Boy,” Cordelia said. Tommy stiffened. “What?” “I don’t know what hold you’ve got over her, ‘Tommy’,” Xander said with a smirk. “But it’s…” “It’s Morphin’ Time! Zeo Ranger V, Red!” Seconds later, Tommy stood before them, decked out in full Zeo Ranger uniform. “Oh…crap.” “An astute observation, Xander,” Giles said. “The rest of you?” “Only the Zeo and Ninja powers were restored,” Billy said. “We need to get the other Crystal before the rest of us have our powers back.” “The Council’s on their w – oh dear Lord,” Wesley gasped. “Power down!” A flash of red later and Tommy was out of uniform, the Morpher with the Crystal of Light had transformed into a bracelet of some description. “The Council’s in over its head.” “Yeah, I think I agree with him,” Faith said. “Damn, B. X-Man’s right. You can’t do the normal thing.” “Hey, our relationship’s perfectly normal,” Buffy disagreed. “If you discount monsters, psycho bitches…okay, maybe not.” “He looked like he’s about to faint,” Rocky noted, pointing to a very pale Wesley. “Trying to care…nope, sorry. Can’t be bothered,” Buffy said. “So, Xand, still think I’m under a spell?” “Um…no,” Xander said. “I just have one question,” Cordelia said. “Where can I get one of those?” “Get chosen by an interdimensional sorcerer to save the world,” Zack suggested. “Anyone know any interdimensional sorcerers?”
