Another Buffy/PR x-cover. PG-13. Sexual references.
Two warriors, heartbroken and lost, find each other and take off on an adventure unlike any they have experianced....
Music pounded around her as the memories of the past month echoed through her head. Let it go, let it fade, let the music take you away. All the guys eyeing her, not one knew the pain hidden behind her closed eyelids. Memories of his eyes, filled with confusion and betrayal, her best friends unconscious form, the look of desperation on Xander’s face as he lied to her. No choice, no hope, only one thing to do. Dance.
He hadn’t planned on going out tonight, but the pit crew hadn’t given him a choice. They’d dragged him out, maybe with good reason. Kimberly had been at his last race. And she’d brought her boyfriend with her. They hadn’t gotten a chance to talk about it when she had visited Angel Grove the last time. Seeing them like that, happy, just brought it home. He’d been depressed for days. The crew finally dragged him to the club in LA they frequented. It had a mixed clientele, with mixed music. At the moment, said music fit his mood. Then he saw her, dancing as if her past could be erased if she danced hard enough. Maybe she had the right idea, he though as he moved to join her. It couldn’t hurt.
Eltar “I TOLD YOU THIS WOULD WORK, WHISTLER.” “Yeah, yeah, yuck it up, Zordon. It’s not done yet. He still has to break through.” “IT MAY NOT SEEM OVER TO YOU, MESSENGER, BUT I ASSURE YOU, TOMMY WILL SUCCEED. AND WHEN HE DOES, THEY WILL BOTH BE FAR MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU COULD HOPE.” “We’ll see, Zordon. We’ll see.”
Tommy’s hotel room. The next morning. “Oh boy,” Tommy said, looking down at the mess of blonde hair, and the young woman it belonged to, currently laying on his naked chest. “Oooooooh boy. This is not what I had in mind.” “I’m glad to hear that… Tommy, right?” “Right,” Tomy said. And they didn’t even get drunk. How had he gotten into this one? “Anne, wasn’t it?” “Uh…. Yeah,” she said. “Um…what time is it?” “Uh…8:30am.” “Oh shit, I have work in…we’re not at my apartment.” “No,” Tommy said. “But I’ll drive you.” “You better drive fast, Tommy,” Anne advised. “’Cause I’m going to have to drop home for my uniform.” “Did I forget to mention I drive race cars?” Tommy said with a grin.
Thirty five minutes later. “You do drive fast.” “Yeah, I…like to move faster than most people,” Tommy admitted. Anne grinned. “I wouldn’t be able to talk you into meeting me at the club again tonight, would I?” Anne hesitated a moment. That was dangerous. People who got close to her got hurt. “I’ll take that as a no?” Tommy asked. Anne looked at him. No, he could take it. She didn’t know how she knew, but she could feel it somehow. The night wouldn’t be able to handle this one. “I’d love to,” she said with a smile. “Same time?” “I’ll see you then,” Tommy said. On impulse, Anne leaned over and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before getting out of the car. Tommy grinned goofily as he pulled out. Things were finally looking up.
Two weeks later Tommy watched as Buffy – she’d revealed that she had run away from home after some difficulty with her ex-boyfriend and had changed her name – walked out of the café where she worked, near in tears. “Buffy?” “I just got fired,” Buffy said. “I needed that job, Tommy. Now what do I do? You can’t stay here forever…” “Hey, I was starting grad school in a week anyway, remember?” In truth, Tommy couldn’t go fast enough in his uncle’s cars. His last ‘car’ still left a mark. “Maybe you can move in with me. How’s your high school stuff going,” he’d managed to convince her to finish high school, with his help, by correspondence. With some help from a recently returned Billy, he’d made sure her friends couldn’t find her. “Almost done,” Buffy said as they moved off. “Well, maybe you could start too. Uncle John won’t mind lending you the money.” “Tommy, I couldn’t…” “Hey, don’t say a word, princess,” Tommy scolded. “You know he sees you like his own daughter. No arguments.” “I…guess.” “Maybe then I can find out where you go at night,” Tommy joked. Buffy grinned slightly. “You think you can handle it, Speed Racer?” “Oh, I think I can take anything you can throw at me, princess.”

I'd be more worried about what he throws at her. The original idea for this was a Justic League crossover.

Two months later. Hard to believe the course my life’s gone, Buffy thought. From her own personal hell to grad school, a new circle of friends and Tommy. Thinking of her boyfriend of two months, as always, brought a smile to Buffy’s face. From a pair of lost individuals, looking for hope to cling to, to a couple. Given their similar pasts, it was only natural, Buffy thought. The night Tommy had asked her to move in with him, she had shown him why she had run from home. His reaction, being Tommy, was as expected. He jumped in to help her. And did a pretty damn good job of it too. Staked his first vamp. She was proud of him. When they got home, he explained why. Power Ranger. Her guy was a Power Ranger. That blew her away. After telling their respective stories, they’d resolved not to keep secrets. Tommy knew everything about her, and she knew all about him. He’d comforted her when she told him about Angel. She’d held him as he explained about Kimberly (while resolving to find this cow and make her pay for hurting him so badly). They’d shared the ups and downs and come out deciding it was time to go steady. Now she was patrolling again and Tommy was trying to find his Successors, the Turbo Rangers, after the Command Centre blew up. His study had also brought to his attention what could possibly a new source of Ranger Powers, if what he’d found was true. She hoped it was, she knew he missed Rangering a hell of a lot more then she ever missed Slaying. “Hey, Buffy!” “Hey, Hailey,” Buffy said, waving at her fellow student. Hailey was smart, smarter than Willow, Buffy thought with a twinge of regret. “What ya up to?” “Work, work and job offers,” Hailey said. “Microsoft…” “Again?” Buffy said as they walked together. “Can’t they get a hint?” “Obviously not,” Hailey said. “How about you?” Buffy’s studies had moved into business, myths and legends and fitness training. They didn’t make a whole lot of sense together, but Buffy had plans of going into business with friends of Tommy, who owned a Dojo back in Angel Grove. The Myth and Legends study was more to keep her Slaying activities going without calling Sunnydale. Amazingly, it worked. So far. “Same old, same old,” Buffy said. “Homework, paperwork from Jason and Rocky…” At this point, several…things appeared out of thin air. They wore silver armour over black suits with helmets and strange, blade/staffs. “Freaky looking guys appearing out of thin air,” Buffy commented, dropping into a fighting stance. “This is normal for you?” Hailey asked. “Not really,” Buffy said. “Go get help.” “Who do I tell?” Hailey asked. “The Power Rangers?” Buffy suggested. “I don’t care. Just get out of here,” Hailey ran. Strangely, the things didn’t move after her. So they were after Buffy. “Bring it on, uglies.” The creatures charged. They were tough, maybe tougher than vampires. But Tommy wasn’t exactly a push over on the mats. And Buffy was used to fighting things stronger than her. Her first order of business was getting a weapon. As the first thing reached her, she ducked underneath its strike, getting in close with an chop beneath the helmet, above its chest plate, forcing it back and relieving it of it’s weapon, which Buffy quickly claimed as her own. From there, it was almost equal footing, Buffy shorter size and light weight making her faster than the foot soldiers, while her Slayer strength made it possible for her to cause some damage. The weapon was as dangerous in her hands as it was in her foes. Unfortunately, there was a numbers game at play. One she was loosing. Then Tommy joined in. And he brought a friend. The way the other guy moved, Buffy could tell he was another Ranger, or former, at least. Knew where to hit, knew how to get close. With the new additions, it didn’t take long to chase the things off. “You okay, princess?” Tommy asked. “Fine,” Buffy panted. “But I am so out of shape.” “I know the feeling,” the newcomer said. “Buffy, this is Adam,” Tommy said. “Adam, my girlfriend, Buffy.” “Nice to meet the miracle girl that made Tommy forget Kimberly,” Adam said. “Who?” “Good reaction, Tommy,” Buffy said playfully. “Anyone know what that was about?” “Not yet,” Tommy said, looking around. “Let’s head for home. We’ll talk about it there.” “I’ll call Tanya to meet us there,” Adam said. “Another…member of the Rainbow Appreciation Society?” Buffy asked. Adam looked at Tommy. “No wonder Rocky likes her.” “Yep. One in a million alright.”

Tommy and Buffy’s apartment “Hey, Adam,” Buffy said, stepping to one side. Old habits died hard, not to mention got interesting looks as the two former Rangers stepped in. “This is Tanya,” Adam said, introducing the woman next to him. “Tanya, this is Buffy, Tommy’s lady.” “Hi,” Buffy said. “Come on. Speed Racer’s waiting in the lounge room.” “Speed Racer?” Tanya asked. Adam shrugged as they followed her. “Hey guys,” Tommy said. Adam gave a small smile. He had his ‘leader face’ on. This was going to be good. “Any luck?” Buffy asked. “Justin said he’ll try and get in contact with TJ and the others,” Tommy said. “Last he heard, they were headed past Aquitar looking for Zordon.” “That’s quite a way out. I hope they’ll be okay,” Buffy said. “I’m sure the team can handle anything Dark Spectre can throw at them. What worry’s me is that the Earth is defenceless.” “Billy!” Adam said as the former Blue Ranger walked from the study. “What are you doing here?” “When Tommy started calling around, I came as soon as I could,” Billy said. “However, this attack on Buffy does have me concerned. Why would Dark Spectre have an interest in her?” “My night job?” Buffy asked. “Night job?” Tanya asked. “In every generation, one girl is chosen to fight the vampires, blah, blah, blah,” Buffy said tiredly. “For the last two years, that was me. Stuff happened, which I am not going in to. And I retired. Another had already been Called because I drowned and was revived by a friend of mine, so I left it to the guys in charge of guiding me to my grave to bring her in, which know she’s arrived, and resigned myself to mediocrity as a grad student with my drop dead gorgeous guy. Until now. Any questions?” “Vampires?” Tanya and Adam asked. “Given what we’ve faced, is such a creature really so unbelievable?” Billy asked. “Yeah, but…vampires?” Adam asked. “Please don’t make me prove they’re real, I do not want to go strolling through a cemetery at midnight,” Buffy begged. “It’s bad enough doing patrol around here to make sure its safe.” “It could be a factor,” Billy said thoughtfully. “That or the main pain’s a female and after my guy,” Buffy said flippantly. Billy looked at her. “Oh you have got to be kidding me.” “Her name’s Astronema,” Billy said. “If this bitch is trying to move in on Tommy, I’m giving her a Slayer size ass whooping,” Buffy growled. “Relax, princess,” Tommy said, hugging her gently from behind. Adam watched as the petite warrior melted into his arms. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Dark Fortress “Why is it so hard to get something done right?” Astronema demanded. “All I want is the little blonde out of the way so I could claim my new General and boytoy. Is that too much to ask?” “Guess so,” Elgar said. “Too bad, huh?” “Perhaps Tommy Oliver is more trouble than he’s worth,” Ecliptor suggested. Astronema pouted at her bodyguard/general/guardian/trainer/father-figure. “But I want him,” she complained petulantly. “He’s cute, he’s strong and he’s got a nice butt. Plus he’s a good fighter. Those Power Pains wouldn’t stand a chance if I had him on my side.” “Uh, didn’t Rita and Gasket try that, Astronema, ma’am, sir?” Elgar asked. Astronema wheeled at him angrily. “They’re idiots,” she hissed. “They don’t know how to hold a man’s…loyalty. Besides, I have….plans for him.” “And his lover?” Ecliptor asked. Astronema looked at him suspiciously. “Are you trying to replace me, Ecliptor?” She asked with a coy smile. “Of course not, princess. But she is a skilled fighter, and stronger than she appears. Properly trained, she may be as great an ally as Oliver.” “Hm…. I have it!” Astronema said. “The Crystals of Dark and Light! I only need to control one of them and both will fall to me.” “The what of who and which?” Elgar asked. “Silence, buffoon!” Ecliptor snapped. “Are you sure, princess? They can only be wielded by the Chosen…” “How do you think I found Oliver?” Astronema asked with a smug smile. “He is destined to wield the Dark Crystal, while the girl is Light. It’s just too perfect. I’ll finally have a way to stop those rangers once and for all, and get a new toy out of it. That last one just wasn’t strong enough.”

Outside of Time “I knew from the beginning this was a mistake.” “Agreed. Trusting in Zordon’s plan was a foolish idea. Now both will fall.” “It would have happened faster without the Slayer at Oliver’s side.” “Our sister is right. In any event, what’s done is done. What must be discussed is what to do now.” “If I may offer a suggestion?” “Please do. After all, this is your Child we are dealing with, Dragon,” the serpentine creature lifted its head, staring at the gather Powers That Be. “Complete their union. All it takes is your blessing. They will be much harder for Astronema to capture, let alone tame. And they may come by the Crystals of their own volition, under more…favourable circumstances.” “It is an acceptable suggestion. I approve. They have my blessing.” “And mine.” “Mine as well.” “…Very well. I add my blessing.” ‘We awaken the Union of Balance, and deem the Chosen worthy of our final gift. So it is written, so let it be done!’
Buffy and Tommy’s apartment. Buffy’s eyes flew open as the dream ended. Carefully, she disentangled herself from Tommy’s arms and made her way to the bathroom. “A Slayer dream,” she whispered, looking into the mirror. “You people just won’t leave me alone, will you?” “You okay, princess?” Tommy asked as he followed her in. “Sorry,” Buffy said. “Hey, don’t worry about it,” Tommy assured her. “So…Slayer dream, you said?” “A weird one,” Buffy said. “Big white room, five figures, three guys, one girl and a dragon…” “A dragon?” Tommy asked. “Yup. They said some weird things…they were talking about us. Something about awakening some gift…completing our union…lots of weird titles. All that points to one thing.” “And that is…?” “A prophecy,” Buffy let out an annoyed sigh. “There’s only one thing for it. I have to call Giles.” “Whoa, hold on, babe,” Tommy turned her to face him. “You sure about this?” “No,” Buffy said. “I know what’ll happen. They’ll try and force me to go back. He’ll tell the Council, they’ll find me and drag me back. Or to England or somewhere else that’s away from you.” “Not gonna happen,” Tommy assured her. “We can call Billy. Maybe this is a prophecy not on Earth.” “They referred to you as Oliver, not ‘the Rainbow Ranger’,” Tommy grinned at that. “And me the Slayer. It’s an Earth thing,” she let out another sigh, this one worried. Tommy bundled her into his arms. “I don’t want to leave you. I don’t want to loose you.” “You won’t. They’ll have to kill me to get you away from me.” “They might,” Buffy whispered. “I’ve heard some bad things about the Council at the demon bars, usually when they realize who I am. These guys will do anything to get what they want. The Slayer, under their control being the main one.” “Then we play hardball,” Tommy said with a determined look on his face. He walked over to his wardrobe and removed a small lockbox. Curious, Buffy followed. Tommy took a breath as he opened it. Within were two coins, a small crystal and some sort of watch with no face to tell the time. “What’s all that?” Buffy asked. “The Green Power Coin,” Tommy said, pointing to the coin with a reverse fleur de leis on its face. His hand moved to the second coin, with a stylized design of a tiger. “My White Tiger Power Coin, my Zeo Sub-Crystal and a communicator.” “Tommy, what…?” “In case of emergency, break glass,” Tommy muttered. “Astronema’s targeting you for some reason, these Watcher guys are after you, no matter the cost, and we have what may be a prophecy. I’d call that an emergency. Time to break the glass.” “Tommy, are you sure? I mean, they’re all well and truly retired.” “I know.” “And this could be construed as personal gain.” “I know.” “So why are you doing this?” “Because we’re a family,” Tommy said. “Something that affects one, affects all. Besides…it feels like the right time.” “You really miss them, don’t you?” “Yeah, I do.” “Make the call, baby. But only if you feel its right,” Tommy looked up at her with a smile and reached for the communicator.
Elsewhere in LA (beep beep beepdeep beep beep) Adam’s eyes flickered open, Tanya’s not far behind them. No way… (beep beep beepdeep beep beep) “What the hell is he thinking…?” Adam muttered, reaching into his drawer for the small box. He pulled the communicator from within, stopping briefly to look at the Power Coin and crystal. “Tommy, this had better be a real…” ‘Buffy thinks this thing with Astronema may be prophecy connected. She has to go back to Sunnydale. The Council’s looking to reacquire her, and is willing to kill to do it, apparently. This may not be what this system’s in place for, but…’ ‘I agree with Tommy,’ Billy’s voice crackled over the link. ‘I have some new information. Tommy, this needs to be a full call out. Send to everyone from our era, including Aisha and Kimberly.’ “It’s that big?” Tanya asked. It was exciting to think of seeing everyone again, though she wasn’t to happy about Kim being called. ‘End of life as we know it.’ ‘I’m on it.’
Angel Grove Jason. (beep beep beepdeep beep beep) “What the hell…?” Jason muttered as he opened his eyes. (beep beep beepdeep beep beep) “I am retired here,” the original Red Ranger muttered as he headed for his lockbox. Within were his original Coin and a small, gold coloured crystal, a shard of the crystal within Trey’s Power Staff. He reached for the communicator within, hitting the ‘call’ button. “This better be good.” ‘Fate of the universe, bro.’ “When isn’t it, Tommy?” Jason said with a grin. “Where are we meeting?” ‘The Ruins.’
Rocky (beep beep beepdeep beep beep) “Ah hell,” Rocky muttered, going through his own box for his communicator, grinning at the crystal and coin within. Good times. “You got Rocko. This better be important.” ‘You and Jason living together, Rocko?’ “It’s what happens when you wake people this early in the morning. Even Zedd had better time sense than this, Tommy.” ‘Just get ready for company. We’re meeting at the Ruins once everyone can get there,’ Rocky’s eyes went wide. “Got it,” after ending the conversation on his end, Rocky reached for the phone. Maybe Kat’d be able to stay for a while after the emergency…

Africa Aisha (beep beep beepdeep beep beep) An’ here I thought they’d forgotten me, Aisha thought, lifting the communicator on her wrist to her mouth. She wore it as a reminder of good times. She never thought it’d actually be in use again. “This is Aisha.” ‘Long time no hear.’ “Tommy! It’s great to hear from you.” ‘I wish it was on better terms. How fast can you get to Angel Grove?’ “When do you need me?” ‘ASAP. Meet at the Ruins.’ “I’m there.”
Australia Kat Kat put her books on the table as she walked into her Sydney apartment. She had three assignments due… (beep beep beepdeep beep beep) Kat froze in place. (beep beep beepdeep beep beep) It was a dream. She’d pinch herself and wake up any… Ring Ring. She picked up the phone. It was closer. “Hello?” ‘Hey Kat.’ “Rocky, what are you doing up so late?” (beep beep beepdeep beep beep) ‘Answer that and you’ll find out.’ “Oh,” Kat said, putting the phone down and retrieving her communicator. “Hello?” ‘Kat, we need you to get to Angel Grove. Possible end of the universe prophecy.’ “That’s what you got Rocky up for?” ‘He called?’ “He used a telephone, Tommy. Amazing invention.” ‘This is faster, more secure and you didn’t leave me your number.” “Oh. I’ll be right there.” ‘Talk to your boyfriend first.’ “Bite me, Oliver,” Kat said as a sign off, grinning from ear to ear. Here we go again.
New York Zack (beep beep beepdeep beep beep) “Oh hell yes,” Zack hissed, bringing his wrist to his mouth. He was waiting for this. It was amazing how much he missed it. “This is the Zack man.” ‘Ready to get back in black?’ “You know it, Rainbow Ranger.” ‘Ha, ha. Head for Angel Grove. Meet at the Ruins.’ “I’m there.”
Turtle Cove Trini (beep beep beepdeep beep beep) Trini looked around on instinct. How long since she’d done this? “Go ahead,” she whispered into her communicator. ‘You’re needed in Angel Grove, Trini. Meet at the Ruins.’ “I’ll be there.”
LA Tommy. “And now for the hard part,” Tommy whispered, preparing to make the hardest call of all. Buffy squeezed his shoulder. “Tommy…” “I’m alright.” “You’re a lousy liar, Tommy.” “Thanks a lot, princess.”
Florida Kimberly (beep beep beepdeep beep beep) Kim nearly fell over. She was under the impression they were snobbing her because of the Letter. What on earth was this about? “Hello?” ‘Angel Grove. The Ruins. Soon as possible. We have a Ranger emergency,’ short succinct and to the point. He sounded better though. That was good. Time to face the music, Hart. For real this time.

One month later The Ruins of the Command Centre “Well, look who’s here,” Jason said as Tommy and Buffy came over the edge of the peak. “You’re on time for a change.” “Hey, Jase,” Tommy laughed. “Good to see you. How’s the Dojo?” “We followed through on Buffy’s idea about a juice bar,” Rocky said. “We even enlisted Ernie.” “Really?” Tommy gasped. “Man, that’s gotta feel like old times.” “Um, excuse me, who?” Buffy asked. The two former Red Rangers grinned at the clueless expression on there future business partners face. “Ernie used to run the Youth Centre when we were in high school,” Jason explained. “Complete with weight equipment, mats…” “I guess you guys spent a lot of time there when you weren’t saving the world,” Buffy joked. “Um, about that…” Rocky said uncomfortably. “He knew?” Tommy asked, only half surprised. Sometimes he wondered if there was anything that happened in the Youth Centre that Ernie didn’t know about. “Yeah, he knew,” Jason said, shaking his head. “Surprised the hell out of me.” “It’s not like we didn’t leave enough clues for the intelligent,” Billy said, coming over the rise. “Billy!” Jason said, clapping his childhood friend on the back. “Adam and Tanya are right behind me,” Billy said. “Or they were. Then Tanya took a break to tear strips off Kim.” “Kim’s here already?” Tommy asked. Buffy pouted. “Poohey,” she muttered. “The tearing strips off former girlfriend was gonna be my job.” “You’ll get your chance,” Rocky said, looking over the edge. “Here they come,” Buffy smiled as Adam and a frustrated Tanya came over the rise, followed by an athletic young woman in black slacks and a pink tank top. Dressed to kill. “Oh hell no,” Buffy muttered, stalking over to her. Tommy hid his face in his hands. This was not going to go well. Buffy put on the sweetest smile she could as she intercepted Kimberly. “Hi, I’m Buffy.” “Um, are you lost or something?” Kimberly asked. “No, my boyfriend said there was, like, the best views up here,” Buffy said, slipping into her old ‘Ms Popularity ‘95’ persona. “Are you here with someone too?” “I’m meeting some friends up here,” Kim told her. Who bought this little tart up here, she said as she held out her hand. “I’m Kim. Who are you with again?” “Him,” Buffy said, pointing to Tommy as she took Kim’s hand. She put a quarter of her strength into it, making the original Pink Ranger yelp in pain. “Listen here, bitch,” she growled, dropping the cheerful act. “You had your chance and blew. I don’t know why, and I don’t particularly care. But if you think for one instant you’re going to come here and nab my boyfriend, you so have another thing coming. Try it, and I’m going to slap your pretty little face off. Clear?” Kim nodded in shock. What the hell was this girl? “Good. I think we’ll get along just fine,” with that, the Slayer let go of Kim’s hand and walked back over to Tommy, wrapping an arm around his waist and snuggling under his arm. “You okay, Kim?” Jason asked, walking over to her. Kim nodded. “What the hell was that?” Kim asked. “That,” Jason said. “Was the only person who could compete with Tommy in the ‘shit piled on their shoulders in one lifetime’ contest.” “No wonder they’re together,” Kim said, wondering what her secret was. “Is she good for him?” “Yeah. She is. Apparently pulled him right out of a funk.” “That’s…good.” “You weren’t going to try and win him back, were you Kim?” Jason asked her seriously. “I don’t know,” Kim said. “Honestly, I expected to see him with Kat.” “Actually…” Jason said with a grin. “Rocky!” “Kat!” Rocky ran and picked up his girlfriend, spinning her around. “Rocky DeSantos, don’t you drop me,” she warned. “Wouldn’t dream of it,” Rocky said, pulling her close for a kiss. “That’s…unexpected,” Kim whispered. “For them more than anyone,” Jason chuckled. “Any other surprises to expect?” Kim asked him. “Last stop Angel Grove. Thanks for flying Silver Ranger Airlines.” “Thanks, Zhane,” Aisha said, hopping for his Silver Cycle, in it’s Glider mode, of course. “Aisha!” Tanya and Kat squealed. “Hey girls,” Aisha said. “Would you believe he was on holiday?” “Totally true,” the Silver Ranger said, hopping off his board and removing his helmet. “I wanted to see a little of the planet and ran into Aisha. She told me who she was and that she needed to get here pronto. Never being able to say no to a damsel in distress…” “Hey, I ain’t no damsel,” Aisha said, punching him in the arm. “I naturally volunteered to bring her over,” Zhane finished with a million mega watt smile. “Brad Pitt’s the Silver Ranger?” Kim asked, bringing a burst of giggles from the girls. “Actually, my name’s Zhane,” he said with a sweeping bow. “By the way, would there be a Tommy Oliver here?” “That’s me,” Tommy said. Zhane nodded. “Andros has a message for you. Watch your back. Astronema’s got her eyes on you, apparently, and you can bet it’s bad.” “That’s it,” Buffy said, throwing her hands in the air. “Someone’s declared open season on my boyfriend. Why does this always happen to me? Is it my fault he’s got a good ass?” “Not being one to judge,” Zhane said with a grin. “Yours on the other hand…” “Hey, back off,” Tommy warned. The Silver held up his hands. “It was compliment. You have good taste, that’s all.” “Nice save,” Buffy said. This guy was smooth. Maybe she should set him up with Kimberly. Just in case. Hm… “Thank Andros for the info,” Tommy said. “And tell him and the others to be careful.” “Will do,” Zhane said, donning his helmet. “Well, I’m outta here.” “That was interesting,” Buffy said as he flew off. “Hey, Aisha, you meet the most interesting people,” Kim teased. Aisha shrugged. “He was cute,” she said simply. “I have a question,” Kat said. “Why are we so comfortable speaking about Ranger matters around Tommy’s girl friend?” “You mean beside this Astronema cow going after me or my guy?” Buffy said. She picked up a medium sized boulder and crushed it to dust. “Super strength, Chosen by parties begging to get their butt’s whooped to save the world from demons and vampires, blah, blah, blah. Any questions?” “Yeah, how come your deal sucks so much?” Rocky asked. Buffy shrugged. “Fate hates me?” “There’s an attitude to cherish.” “Zack!” Kim Squealed. “Trini!” “Kim!” the original Yellow Ranger almost crash tackled her old friend. “It’s good to see you.” “Same here. My gosh it’s been so long.” “So, now we’re all here,” Rocky said, sitting on what was once a support beam. “What’s the deal?” “Well, for starters, Buffy was attacked by Astronema’s foot soldiers at grad school last month. Nothing unusual in and of itself, but they didn’t go after anyone else until Adam and me jumped in.” “Since then there’s been several more attacks,” Buffy jumped in. “Always when Tommy wasn’t there, and they always zoned in on me. Zhane’s info just proves what I we already suspected. She wants me out of the way, for whatever reason. Though, to be honest, the more recent ones seem like capture attempts.” “Trying to use you to get to Tommy?” Kim suggested. Wouldn’t be the first time it’s happened. “Possible,” Billy said. “Recently, I uncovered some information that may shed some light on the situation.” “Hey, I understood that,” Zack teased. Billy shot him a withering glace before continuing. “Apparently, there’s a prophecy in two parts, one supported by Dark Spectre and his allies, the other by the good peoples in the universe, revolving around two fragments of crystal, referred to as the Crystals of Light and Dark. If you can control one, you can control the other,” he said. “It would seem Astronema’s target has moved from just having Tommy, to controlling the both of them. The only conclusion…” “Is that she thinks Tommy and Buffy are connected to the Crystals,” Jaason concluded. “Two Champions, one wielding Light, the other wielding Darkness.” “Good and Evil?” Kat asked. “No,” Buffy said. “Too clear cut. If that were the case, she’d just want the Champion of Darkness.” “Then what?” Adam asked. “My dream,” Buffy said. All save Tommy, Adam, Tanya and Billy looked at her. “As the Slayer, I get…prophetic dreams sometimes. The dream that caused this little reunion revolved around a group talking about me and Tommy. At one point they referred to us as the ‘Union of Balance’.” “Two beings of equal power,” Adam said. “Balancing each other out.” “Like Ying and Yang,” Trini suggested. “Makes sense,” Aisha said. “Do we know where these Crystals are.” “Astronema has Darkness, a gift from Dark Spectre,” Billy said. “Light’s been lost for years. Everyone’s been searching, but no one’s actually found it.” “Why do bad guys come here?” Jason asked suddenly. “Why always our planet? Rita, Zedd, the Machine Empire… Why here? What’s so significant?” “Not a lot,” Billy admitted. “We’re pretty far out. No real space traffic…” “The Crystal of Light,” Zack said. Jason nodded. “It’s in Angel Grove?” “Or they think it is,” Buffy said. “But has there ever been any real evidence of it? How best to hide a light?” “Cover it in darkness,” Kim said. Buffy suppressed the nervous feeling in the pit of her stomach. “Where better to hide it then one of the darkest places on the planet?” Buffy whispered. “Boca del Inferno.” “The Mouth of Hell,” Billy said. “That makes sense.” “Then I guess there’s no way around it,” Buffy said. “I have to go back.” “Go back where?” Kim asked. “Why?” Tommy said. “The Hellmouth’s in Sunnydale. That’s where we’ll find the Crystal.”
