One shot Buffy/Power Rangers. Set just after Tommy and the others pass on the Turbo powers, which makes it about midwayseason two, let's say just after Angel lost his soul. G.
Tommy looked around the dark street. His uncle had been dissapointed when he quit the team, but it just didn't seem...right, somehow. Like there was something else he should have been doing. So he followed that instinct and applied for a paleontology course at the nearby University of California Sunnydale campus. Not in Angel Grove, but close by in case the new Rangers needed his help.
Which, when he thought about it, was what this was all about. Not having the Power anymore meant he couldn't really help anymore. That bothered him, so he'd moved away. Maybe there's a pattern there, he thought. After all, whenever a Ranger lost their powers, it seemed they moved. First Jason, Trini and Zack, though to be fair, their loosing their powers was because they were going to the Youth Summit. Kimberly...the less time dwelling on that the better. Then Billy, now himself and the others. Hell, he'd even left when he lost teh Green Ranger Powers, both times.
"Looky here, boys. Dinner."
Tommy turned to see a group of young males coming towards him. Their faces were disfigured, their eyes an evil yellow color and fangs could be seen jutting out of their mouths.
"Great," Tommy muttered, dropping his bags. "I left Angel Grove to get away from this."
"This just isn't you're night then, is it?" The leader said. Tommy dropped into a fighting stance.
"Guess not," he said as he charged forward. These guys were strong, stronger than they looked.
So Putties, however, and Tommy used to wail on then on a regular basis. This guys were in for the same treatment.
However, after they'd gotten to their feet for the tenth time, Tommy began to realise that they were tougher than they looked too.
"Oh man," he muttered. "I could really use some help, righ about now."
"Well, i aim to please," a female voice said as a figure bowled into the guys. Tommy took a few minutes to catch his breathe as he watched his rescuer go to work.
She couldn't have been much older than he was when he became the Green Ranger, yet she moved with grace that belied her age, and power that shouldn't have fitted into such a petite frame.
She was also outnumbered, Tommy realised as the guys surrouded her. He leapt forward, landing a vicious kick to the back of the closest guys head, scattering the attackers.
"What are these guys?" He asked.
"Vampires," the girl said, placing a wooden stake into his hand.
"You're joking, right?" Tommy asked.
"Aim for the heart," the girl adviced charging again. She deomonstrated and Tommy watched as teh vampire vanished into dust.
"You weren't joking," he muttered, charging forward himself. A warning would have been nice, Zordon, he thought grudgingly.
"Slayer," the leasder growled.
"Future dust bunny," the 'Slayer', as teh vampire had called her, quipped. Tommy shook his head as he moved in between two vampires, knocking them on their collective butts and staking them both. "Now teh intros are done, shall we?"
"I was hoping I'd run into you," he growled. "Angelus will reward me for bringing you to him alive," the girl seemed to stiffen slightly. something about this...angelus seemed to throw her off her game. Tommy move up behind the vampire and shoved teh stake in his back.
"Not tonight, pal," he said as the vampire dusted. The survivors, seeing the strongest of them go down, ran. "Well, that was different."
"You're good," the Slayer said.
"Thanks," Tommy said. "You're not so bad yourself. Who's this 'Angelus' guy?"
"Forget it," the girl said, walking away. "It's got nothing to do with you."
"That's where you're wrong," Tommy said, running up behind her. "If these things are real, and hurting people, that makes it my problem."
"Why?"
"My friends would say I've got a 'White Knight' complex," Tommy admitted. "I just don't like seeing people get hurt. I'm Tommy, by the way."
"I know someone like that," the girl said. "Stay in at night, you'll get along fine. Don't hunt these things. I couldnt' deal with someone getting hurt because i dragged them into this," she broke into a jog, breaking away from the former Ranger.
"Wait, I didn't catch you're name," the girl stopped, turning to face him.
"I'm Buffy," she said, and then ran off into the night. Tommy watched her go, then retrieved his bag and headed for the hotel. I jsut can't go anywhere normal, he thought wryly.
