Dark Fortress. “Well, well,” Astronema said slowly looking at the monitor. “What have we here?” “Well, it looks like the Red Space Ranger alone,” Elgar offered. “I know that, you idiot,” Astronema snapped. “Whoa,” Elgar muttered. “I was only trying to help.” “What I want to know is where his little friends are,” the Princess of Evil continued. “Scanners are reading the other Rangers at the old Command Centre site,” Ecliptor said. “How… interesting,” Astronema said softly. She would have a chance to avenge her family at last. “Ecliptor, I want to you take a group of Quantrons and attack the Rangers at the old ruins.” “What about the Red Ranger?” Ecliptor asked. Astronema grinned viciously. “Leave him to me.”
Angel Grove Park. Andros leaned against the tree, more nervous than he had ever felt before. What if Kimberly and Logan were right? What if Dark Spectre had turned his little sister into Astronema? “Well, well, here we are at last,” Andros straightened instantly, turning to face Astronema. “The two of us face to face with no one to stop me from destroying you.” “Just answer one question,” Andros said. If this was Karone, he wanted to know what sort of lies he was facing. “Why are you so focused on destroying me? There’s an entire galaxy, yet you concentrate all your efforts on me. Why?” “You don’t even know?” Astronema screamed, pointing her staff at him. “Fine! It wouldn’t mean anything if you didn’t know, murderer.” “Murderer?” Andros was confused. What did she mean? “You killed my family!” Astronema screamed, firing at him, Andros managed to duck, barely. “My parents!” Another bolt, destroying the tree behind where he had been standing. “My brother!” “Brother?” Andros had been so distracted by that comment, Astronema’s next shot hit him squared in the chest, but he didn’t feel the pain. It was her. “No more,” he grunted getting to his feet. “So, finally surrendering?” Astronema said with a satisfied grin. “Call it what you want,” Andros said, his destroyed shirt falling to the ground. “I’m not going to fight you anymore, Karone.” “I think my blast hit you harder than I realised,” Astronema laughed. “You don’t even remember who I am.” “It’s you doesn’t remember,” Andros said. “Kimberly was right. Her senses gave you away.” “What are you on about?” Astronema snapped. “Have you lost your mind?” “No,” Andros said slowly. “I think I’m finally seeing things a little clearer. Kim said it, she told me, but I didn’t want to believe it. But whoever did the brainwashing kept close enough to the truth for you to easily accept.” “Brainwashing?” Astronema demanded. “Your brother didn’t die, Karone,” Andros whispered. “He’s standing right in front of you.” “You liar!” Astronema screamed as she dropped her staff and leapt at the Red Ranger, wrapping one hand around his throat. “I won’t let you confuse me! You killed my brother!” “It’s not… true, Karone,” Andros gasped. Killed by his own sister. How ironic. “Liar,” she hissed. “Liar. Li…” her eyes dropped to the locket around his neck. She grabbed it with her free hand and ripped it off. “Where did you get this?” “My… parents gave it to me,” Andrs breathed. He didn’t have much time left if she didn’t let him go. “That’s impossible,” Karone said, dropping him. Her hand went to her own locket, hidden amongst the rest of the jewellery she wore. The only memento of her family she had. “You killed my family. You’re just trying to trick me.” ‘Are you so sure about that?’ A voice asked, echoing through both minds. ‘Are you willing to kill him despite the chance that he might be telling the truth?’ “Who said that?” Karone turned to face a transparent man in a suit with a completely bald head. “Who are you?” ‘I’m Charles Xavier,’ the ghost – for that’s what he looked like - said. ‘I’m here to help you.’ “Help me?” Astronema seethed. “You mean convince me that his lies are true?” ‘Think of it how you like,’ Xavier said. ‘But wouldn’t you like to know what happened to your family? Whether he’s lying or not, the answers lay in his mind. All you have to do is say the word, and all three of us can take a trip through his memories.’ “How is that possible?” Astronema asked. She did want to know how this murderer had killed her family, so that she could visit the pain on him a thousand times. ‘I’m a mutant, like Kimberly and Logan,’ Xavier told her. ‘Only my powers lay in the mind. I’m a telepath, capable of reading peoples minds, communicating with them, even entering and walking the paths of their lives as they remember it.’ “So, you can take me into his mind?” Astronema asked. Andros looked at her, unafraid. She’d discover the truth and at last be free. ‘If it is your wish,’ the professor said. Astronema looked over at Andros. He didn’t seem afraid, but if this ‘Xavier’ were working for him, there wouldn’t be a need. And yet… There was something about this floating, transparent man, his calm way of talking, his total control of his own emotions that made Astronema trust him. “Alright.”

Andros’ memories. ‘Then look around,’ Charles said. Astronema looked around her. It looked like the Astro Megaship’s bridge. She remembered it from the time she had brainwashed the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into taking over it for her. ‘This is Andro’s mind, or a visual manifestation of it.’ ‘Obsessive, aren’t you?’ Astronema teased. ‘When it’s the only home you have left, you tend to obsess,’ Andros shot back, though with far less venom. ‘Come on. I’ll show you what you came here to see,’ he led them to the door that, in reality, led to the main corridor. Here, however, it led to a meadow, where two children, a boy and a girl, were playing. ‘This is the last time I ever saw my sister,’ Andros said, looking at the girl. ‘She’d dragged me out of the city for a picnic, just us and her toys, with a lunch our mother had packed. Thinking back, Karone saved my life. If we’d been home when the attack began…’ ‘This is impossible,’ Astronema breathed, looking at the scene, the spitting image of the last scene in her own mind before the Rangers had attacked her home and killed her family. ‘How could you possibly know this? Not with this much detail,’ in the background an attack began on the city. Astronema look around as Quantrons ran past the two children. Andros merely closed his eyes, trying to hold back his tears. He had relived this day a thousand, thousand times since then, hating himself for freezing as the creature he now recognised as Darkonda came out of the woods, knocking him aside and taking Karone away. Hated himself as he just sat there, frozen with fear as his beloved sister was taken from him. Because it was his fault. Because he didn’t do anything. ‘Lies,’ Astronema denied what she saw. This wasn’t the truth. This isn’t how it happened. Was it? That little girl’s fear was as real to her as her own denial, as real as the knowledge that her big brother would rescue her. As real as the pain and degradation and reprogramming she had experienced… ‘No,’ she whispered as Darkonda’s hold was broken. She fell to her knees, not Astronema, the Princess of Evil, but Karone again, realising how badly she had hurt her brother. ‘Oh Andros, what have I done? I’m so sorry.’ ‘Karone,’ Andros was broken from his own pain by his sister’s sobs. He wrapped his arms around her, whispering soothingly into her ears. ‘It’s okay little sister. It wasn’t you. It wasn’t you,’ Xavier gave a small smile as he returned them to the real world and then returned to his body. His work was done. Now it was up to them.
Angel Grove Park. “We’re back,” Andros whispered, looking at his sister. Karone ran to him, wrapping her arms around him. “Thankyou,” she whispered. “I always knew you’d save me.” “Thank Kimberly,” Andros said. “There’s no way we’d have known if it weren’t for her nose.” “You shouldn’t have found out at all,” Darkonda growled as he appeared with an army of… things. “What are those things?” Andros said. “My early attempts of creating Rangers of my own,” Darkonda said. “Since Ecliptor and the Quantrons have your friends occupied, I’ll take this opportunity to destroy the both of you. Attack!” “Let’s Rocket!” Karone suddenly found herself hiding behind the Red Space Ranger, her hatred for him gone. “Karone, stay behind me.” “I’m not a child, Andros,” Karone said. “I can fight, and I’m not letting you fight these things alone.” “Fine, but stay close.” “Alright,” she wondered if her confidence in herself was ill founded.

The stranger step out of the portal as the Mutate Rangers attacked Andros and Karone. “Just in time,” he muttered, clutching a small object. “I hope this works. Karone!” Karone turned as her name was called to see an older man she had never seen before running towards her. He was wearing a blue uniform with a rather large gun slung across his back and various other things on his belt, which had an X on the buckle. As he ran closer, Karone realised that what she thought was merely armour plating on his left arm was due to the fact that the arm was robotic. The warrior, for he could be nothing but, also had one glowing eye. “Catch!” He threw a small object to her. Karone used one of the Mutates as a springboard, she propelled herself into the air, catching the device. “Is this…?” She whispered. The man yelled one thing as he joined the fray. “A gift from the past,” Karone looked at the box like device, and the coin in the centre, which shined momentarily green. She knew exactly what to do. “It’s Morphin’ Time!” “What?” Darconda growled. “Did she just…?” Andros was just as confused as she took up the position. “Dragonzord!” A flash of light later, Karone was dressed in the familiar green uniform of the original Green Ranger. Power rushed through her body, and she knew just what to do with it. “Payback time,” she growled.
Elsewhere. “This is too easy,” Rita said in delight as they destroyed the bunker ahead of them. “Indeed it is, my dear,” Lord Zedd agreed. “Perhaps we should… No! That’s not possible!” “What’s wrong, Zeddy?” Rita asked. Her husband looked at her. “I just detected an increase in power on the Morphin’ Grid. An increase that could mean only one thing. Someone has reactivated the Green Ranger.” “What?” Rita screamed. “How is that possible? There is no Green Ranger. The Power Coin has nothing left, it’s scrap!” “Goldar!” Zedd yelled. “Prepare our forces. We’re heading back to Earth.”
Angel Grove. “Unbelievable,” the warrior muttered. Tales of the Green Rangers power had been like a guiding light in his time, as with all the Rangers. Yet seeing Karone tear through the Mutates like a hot knife through butter blew all the tales he had ever heard out of the water. “How did you do that?” Andros asked as he made it to the warrior’s side. “I made a trip to the past,” the stranger said. “That coin was the one used by the clone of Tommy created by the Wizard of Deception. I managed to talk him into giving it to me. It took a while to make him understand the threat here.” “She’s incredible,” Andros said as she made it to Darkonda. “Your sister’s no slouch,” the stranger agreed as Darkonda hit the ground. “Oath!” “What?” Andros asked. “In my time, where I’m from, Darkonda is one of the mightiest warriors in the armies of En Sabbah Nur,” the Stranger explained. “One of the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse. Even I am hard pressed to defeat him and Karone just knocked him down!” “She’s got a lot of reasons to beat him into the ground,” Andros said as sparks rained off Darkonda’s body. “I just hope that’s enough to keep her alive.”

Command Centre Ruins. “Better run,” Zack yelled as the Quantrons and Ecliptor vanished. “I’ve got a bad feeling about this,” Tommy said. “We better…” he stopped mid sentence as a strangely familiar rush flew through his body. In his mind, he heard a familiar roar. “That can’t mean what I think it does.” “Tommy?” Kimberly asked, concerned. “You alright?” “This is going to sound nuts, but I think the Green Power Coin’s back on line,” Tommy said. “How’s that possible?” TJ asked. “I thought its power was drained.” “It was,” Tommy said. “But I just have this feeling…” “Alpha, run a scan for the Green Dragon Ranger,” Jason ordered through his communicator. “There’s no need, Jason,” Alpha answered. “Kimberly’s plan worked, but as soon as the spell was broken, Andros and Karone were attacked. An unknown Warrior threw the Green Power Morpher to her.” “How is that possible?” Aisha asked. “Tom,” Tommy guessed. “This warrior must be a time traveller of some kind.” “They said they couldn’t send anyone else,” Kimberly said. “Then he’s from some when else,” Billy surmised. “We better get there fast,” Tommy said. “Right!”
Angel Grove Park. “Karone,” Andros called as he and the stranger finally caught up with her. “Are you alright?” “All these years I’ve been lied to, hurt, moulded into that… thing I was,” Karone whispered. “And he was the one that did it.” “It’s alright, baby sister,” Andros whispered, a hand on her shoulder. “I won’t let it happen again.” “How is this possible?” Darkonda spat, getting to his feet. He turned to the stranger, glaring darkly. “Who are you?” “My true name isn’t for your ears, creature,” he said. “Instead, you may call me Cable,” a codename, Andros thought. He must be connected to the X-Men. “You’ve hurt and killed a lot of people, Darkonda. It’s time for you to pay for your crimes.” “And who’s going to make me?” Daronda sneered. “You?” Cable brought his gun to bear, easily twice the size of the Quadro Blaster. “I made a promise, you monster,” he growled. “I always keep my promises.” “Not this time, I’m afraid,” Darkonda said. “You should know, Red Ranger, I always have a back up.” At that point, a giant monster began a rampage. “I never realised how ugly these monsters are,” Karone said, looking up at the creature. “Karone…” “I’m not sitting this out, Andros,” she said, pulling out the Dragon Dagger. Andros smiled under his helmet. “I guess not. Delta Megazord, online!” Well, Karone thought. This is it. “Dragon Zord power, now!”
